About Christel

Dr Christel Lorraine Mex
Your voice in Kensington

Dr Christel Mex is a sitting councillor and candidate for the Kensington/East Norwood Ward in the City of Norwood, Payneham & St Peters.

Following a 30-year career in management and executive roles, I completed a PhD at Flinders University. My field of research is creating and sustaining a strong future for volunteering in Australia, which supports my work on Volunteering Australia’s research committee. My other qualifications include a BA, MBA, and Institute of Company Directors certificate.

I chair the Volunteering Strategy for South Australia and am an active committee member of Community Alliance SA and my local resident association. I acknowledge the great work of our service clubs, welfare organisations, environmental groups, sporting associations and dedicated volunteers.

“Christel fully engages with local community. She tells us what is happening. She asks what we think She cares. She adds value. How rare and wonderful is Councillor Mex”

Sara, Kensington

“Heritage, character and environment are the new engaged species. Christel Mex is one of the few with the courage, integrity and youthful vigour to stand up against the steamroller of the dollar-driven ugliness. We are lucky to have her and need to keep her on the case for us”

Samela, Norwood

“We have found Christel to be a most energetic councillor supporting the Norwood pool and library. If you want an honest and hardworking person on your council, you can do no better than Christel”

June and Ian, Marryatville
